Jagr's goal gave the Devils a three-goal lead:

The tally was also the 693rd goal of Jagr's career, which moved him past Red Wings legend Steve Yzerman for a sole share of eighth on the all-time goal totals list.

Ageless New Jersey Devils forward Jaromir Jagr seemingly can't turn around without knocking someone out of their spot in the NHL's record books.

On Sunday, in New Jersey's final game of the season, Jagr recorded two assists in the third period on goals scored by Travis Zajac and Jagr's countryman Marek Zidlicky. They were Jagr's 1049th, and 1050th assists of his illustrious NHL career.

The last assist moved Jagr past Gordie "Mr. Hockey" Howe and into sole possession of eighth on the all time list of NHL assists leaders.

Brodeur on Jagr: 'Seriously, did you see that today?'

The New Jersey Devils defeated the Washington Capitals 5-4 in overtime Saturday night and Jaromir Jagr scored his 694th career goal to tie Mark Messier on the all-time scoring list.

While Jagr continues to climb the all-time scoring list chasing Mike Gartner's record of 708 goals, teammate and Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur is in awe. "Seriously, did you need that today? It was unbelievable. Who comes in the zone backwards with his [rear end first]? I've never seen that before."

Head coach Peter DeBoer echoed the same opinion, "He amazes me every night I come to the rink. I don't have a lot more adjectives to describe him."

Jagr didn't spend much time talking about the achievement, all he said was "I love my teammates."

With seemingly ever goal he scores this season, New Jersey Devils forward Jaromir Jagr continues to re-write the NHL's record books.

On Saturday Jagr scored a third period goal against his old club the Washington Capitals. It was the 694th goal of Jagr's career, moving him into a tie with Mark Messier for 7th on the all-time list of NHL goal scorers.

Jagr is now only 14 goals behind Mike Gartner for 6th on the list of all-time NHL goal scorers. If he maintains his current goal per game pace this season, Jagr could surpass Gartner this season.
