Tommy Pham's remarkable streak is in the history books.

The Tampa Bay Rays outfielder saw his on-base streak end at a franchise-record 48 games when he failed to reach during the Rays' 8-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.

Pham went 0-for-4 and struck out in his final at-bat in the seventh inning. He nearly got another plate appearance in the eighth but watched from the on-deck circle as Guillermo Heredia flew out to end the inning and the streak.

Pham hit .346/.450/.593 with nine homers, 21 extra-base hits, 28 RBIs, and 41 runs scored over the course of the streak, which began Aug. 21 of last year. He reached base via hit 63 times, drew 34 walks (one intentional), was hit by three pitches, and reached on error twice. The Rays went 34-14 during his streak.

His 48-game on-base streak shattered the previous Rays record (Johnny Damon in 2011) by 10 games. It also ties Joey Votto's (2013) and Mike Trout's (2015) streaks for the fourth-longest of the decade, according to Baseball-Reference.

"You gotta see a direct correlation from the time that we acquired him last year (on July 31) to where we're at now, and how things have kind of turned in the right direction for this organization," Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters postgame, according to FOX Sports Florida. "It's not all him, but he's a huge part of it. What he did ... (is) pretty impressive."

With Pham's run over, baseball's longest active on-base streak now belongs to New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit. Voit has reached in 28 straight games dating to last September, according to Lindsey Adler of The Athletic.

Legendary slugger Ted Williams continues to own the longest on-base streak in baseball history. Williams reached safely in 84 consecutive games during the 1949 season.
