It was a bad night for managers at Fenway Park on Tuesday.

Boston Red Sox skipper Alex Cora and outfielder Andrew Benintendi were ejected in the fifth inning and Texas Rangers manager Chris Woodward received the boot a half-inning later in the top of the sixth.

Cora was ejected by first-base umpire Vic Carapazza after Benintendi was tossed following a groundout. The Red Sox outfielder apparently said "That's f------ bullshit" to Carapazza on his way out, according to Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe.

Benintendi said postgame that he yelled "you suck" at home-plate umpire Angel Hernandez because he was angry about the first call of the at-bat, and he was ejected for that comment.

The ejection was the third of Cora's managerial career, and first this season.

Hernandez was asked after the game about the ejections.

"He violated the rules of the game," the umpire told a pool reporter, according to Cotillo. "I'm not at liberty to discuss anything until I submit the report tomorrow."

Woodward, meanwhile, was sent packing by Hernandez after it appeared the skipper wanted a play at second base to be reviewed but Hernandez deemed the challenge to be too late.

A manager has 30 seconds to inform the umpire - by verbal communication or hand signal - whether he wishes to use a challenge for a replay review. Woodward felt Hernandez didn't signal that the 30-second window was ending, which led to his on-field tirade and eventual early shower.

"I just wanted consistency, that's all, from the umpires," Woodward said postgame, according to Jessica Camerato of "I know their job is hard. It's not black and white ever, they have a hard job to do. But most umpires give you the ultimatum when it comes down to the 30 seconds. I don't have a 30-second clock in my head."

Hernandez said time had expired so there was no chance the play would be reviewed, but he was unable to properly signal this to Woodward.

"He (Woodward) basically had his back towards me," Hernandez said, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. "There was no way to get his attention. When he turned around, we were out of time. I guess he thought he was still in the time frame."

This is the first time Woodward has been ejected.
