Bregman, Trout highlight Silver Slugger Award winners

Major League Baseball announced the Silver Slugger Award winners Thursday, recognizing the top offensive players at each position from both leagues.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout took home a Silver Slugger for the seventh time, while DJ LeMahieu unseated Jose Altuve at second base in the American League. Altuve had won five straight.

A number of players earned their first Silver Sluggers on Thursday, including AL MVP candidate Alex Bregman, Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr., and Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Cody Bellinger.
