The 31-year-old has spent the last four seasons in Japan. He authored a 1.62 ERA over 149 2/3 innings while making 23 starts with the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks last year.
Martinez played with the Texas Rangers from 2014-17 after they drafted him in the 18th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He owns a 4.77 ERA and 5.36 FIP over 88 career games, including 20 relief appearances.
