Karl-Anthony Towns could become a very rich man in 2019.

The 22-year-old is discussing a max extension on his rookie contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources told Michael Scotto of The Athletic.

Towns could be in line for a deal similar to the five-year, $146.5-million extension teammate Andrew Wiggins signed prior to last season.

With rumors swirling that Jimmy Butler could bolt as early as this upcoming year, locking down Towns is likely a priority for the Timberwolves.

Towns has not missed a game through his first three seasons in the league and was named to the All-NBA third team this year after averaging 21.3 points and 12.3 rebounds per game on 54.5 percent shooting from the field, including a 42.1 percent mark from 3-point range.
