Los Angeles Clippers general manager Michael Winger has reportedly informed the Minnesota Timberwolves that he will be staying in his current role, league sources told The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski.

The Timberwolves reportedly received permission Tuesday to interview Winger in their search for a new president of basketball operations. Winger, however, won't consider leaving a competitive franchise with such a positive long-term outlook and never began the interview process, Krawczynski adds.

Winger has been the Clippers' general manager since 2017 after serving as an assistant GM with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also previously worked under Danny Ferry in the Cleveland Cavaliers' front office.

Chauncey Billups, Trajan Langdon, Calvin Booth, and Gersson Rosas are reportedly candidates for Minnesota with Winger no longer in the mix.

The Clippers are currently trailing 2-1 in their first-round series with the Golden State Warriors after ending the regular season with a 48-34 record.
