Lakers' Ellington doubtful for season opener due to hamstring strain
The Los Angeles Lakers received some more bad news on the injury front.
Guard Wayne Ellington is doubtful for next week's season opener against the Golden State Warriors after an MRI revealed a Grade 1 hamstring strain, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel told reporters Wednesday, according to The Orange County Register's Kyle Goon.
Ellington rejoined Los Angeles this offseason for a second stint after averaging 9.6 points and shooting 42.2% from deep across 46 appearances for the Detroit Pistons last campaign. The veteran sharpshooter has drilled 38.2% of his triples over his 12-year career.
The Lakers finished 25th in 3-pointers per game during the 2020-21 season.
