New documentary chronicles Westbrook's basketball journey
Russell Westbrook is the subject of a new documentary coming out in October.
The Showtime Sports documentary, titled "Passion Play: Russell Westbrook," will chronicle the Los Angeles Lakers guard's journey from high school to the NBA, according to CBS Sports' Wajih AlBaroudi. It premieres Oct. 15 across all Showtime platforms.
Westbrook served as an executive producer along with his younger brother, Raynard Westbrook. Emmy Award-winning filmmakers Gotham Chopra and Erik LeDrew co-directed the project.
"I'm proud to share this documentary and give audiences an inside look into who I really am on and off the court," Westbrook said in a statement. "There are a lot of misconceptions about me, but I'm ready to share my story and my journey with my fans."
"Passion Play" will feature interviews with Westbrook, his family, and former teammates Kevin Love and Nick Collison, among others.
