Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross pledged to donate $1 million to help with recovery efforts in Florida following Hurricane Irma, the team announced Wednesday.

"The devastation throughout Florida was heartbreaking, but I am inspired by the resilience and spirit of our state to help rebuild," Ross said in a statement. "Our most heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by Hurricane Irma and we are committed to helping in long term recovery efforts."

The Dolphins also announced efforts that include using their volunteer program - the "Miami Dolphins Special Teams" - to help with rebuilding projects around Florida.

As well as Ross' pledge, the Dolphins have partnered with AARP Foundation and will match every dollar raised, with "100 percent of the money raised going directly into the community."
